Rescue of a wounded falcon

A member of the rare and protected Falco Eleonorai was found in distress by the side of the road to Pera Rachidi. Our volunteer, George, who discovered this wounded falcon, transferred it to our center and later, on the same day, we sent the bird by boat to the Aegean Wildlife Hospital, ALKIONI, in Paros. The break in this falcon’s wing, will, unfortunately, mean that its chance to fly again is small and therefore it will remain with ALKIONI, well cared for and protected from harm, for the rest of its life.

Greece is proud to host eighty five percent of the world’s population of this beautiful and rare species and we want to thank the Aegean Wildlife Hospital, ALKIONI, for its excellent cooperation with AZI and we congratulate them for the great work they do.
