She paid a heavy price for a life on the streets. Now, she needs a miracle and a home.
A Heavy Price for a Life in the Sun
Lefki is approximately 6 years old, and until now, her life has been on the streets of Amorgos. Completely white and exposed to the harsh sun every single day without any protection, she has paid a very heavy price. Her constant exposure to the sun caused cancer in both of her ears. She recently underwent surgery, and we were able to treat the problem there.
But her battle is not over yet. There is also cancer on her forehead, and in order to give her a real chance of fighting it, she needs electrochemotherapy. It is a difficult and demanding treatment. She will have to travel to Athens and stay there for as long as necessary, covering transportation, accommodation, veterinary visits, examinations, and significant medical costs.
More Than Treatment: Looking for Her Safe Haven
There is something even more important: Lefki cannot return to the streets. Even if we manage to raise the money and go through this entire process, returning her to a life exposed to the sun would undo all our efforts. That is why today, we are looking for her forever home, her person, and her safety.
Lefki must live exclusively indoors, away from sun exposure. Perhaps this could be the greatest gift we can give her: to finally discover, at six years old, what it feels like to have a warm bed, loving arms, a full bowl, and a person who will never leave her. Lefki is a beautiful, sweet, and incredibly affectionate soul who loves human contact. We want to give her the chance to heal—and a loving family to fight for.
