Mitsos
Mitsos, a donkey of 30+ years, is an old fellow. He arrived at our equine shelter in February 2022. We had been trying to get him over to the shelter for two years before his arrival, as it had became clear he had a difficult time working (he walked too slowly and often fell) and that he needed to rest.
His owner was a very old man who was also having difficulty moving himself so our position was challenging as we had to be sensitive to the needs of both the animal and the human.
Fortunately, the owner, after pressure from his children, realized he no longer could take care of Mitsos so it decided that Mitsos would come to AZI’s equine shelter to rest. What a relief for us all!
So now Mitsos can relax and enjoy as many years as he has left to live.

Frideriki
This is Frideriki, a 25+ year old donkey who came in our shelter in April 2020. Her owner left Amorgos permanently due to health problems so Frideriki needed someone to take care her. The only solution for her was to come to our shelter since, due to her advanced age, she can no longer work so there was no other interest in her.
Frideriki is very smart donkey who loves human company very much but she becomes very possessive of the people she likes and jealous of anyone who approaches them.
She loves to have you scratch her ears, and you will always find her next to her best friend and fellow donkey Anna. Won’t you consider virtually adopting Frideriki?

Margarita
Margarita is a senior cat, somewhere between 10 to 15 years old or maybe even more, who came to our Center in March 2022. She is blind possibly due to a stroke because her blindness happened all of a sudden. Some small neurological problems (e.g., she was swinging her head like a pendulum) cleared up after a deworming treatment.
She was taken from her home neighborhood after the stroke because people there were concerned about having “a sick” cat there so they called us to take her. Additionally, it was dangerous for her to remain there due to the fact that she was living next to a central road and with her blindness, it was a terrible danger.
Margarita has a very sweet nature, she loves all other animals and humans. She always asks for caresses.
Due to her old age, she has very little chance of being placed in a home so she will live in our shelter for the rest of her life. But she would love to be virtually adopted—won’t you consider being her friend and supporter?
Evridiki
JAN 2023 UPDATE—Evridiki, our beautiful blind cat, is now 2 and half years old and she has spent all her life in a room of our Center. Although positive for FIP, Evridiki has never shown any symptoms of her illness and is considered by her veterinarians to be a perfectly healthy cat.
We feel sorry for her and for the fact that she restricted to staying in one room of our shelter. She is desperately needs a home, but in the meantime, won’t you consider a virtual adoption?
(She is available for physical adoption too.)

Melpo
Melpo was found in the middle of the road in June of 2014 when she was only one and a half months old. She has grown up at our Center, but, because we could not find an adoptive home for her we released her into a safe area.
Unfortunately, five months ago, Melpo was hit by a car and her front leg had to be amputated. Since then she has stayed with us at the center and we have grown so fond of this small sweet cat whom we believe has a very noble character. She is quiet and undemanding and waits patiently for us to give her attention.
She is now two and a half years old, spayed, fully vaccinated and negative for the feline viruses FEL and FIV.
Below are photographs of Melpo as she first came to us, after her accident, and now, as a grown up girl. We have also included a short video of Melpo. Should you be interested in virtually adopting her, please contact us at azi.amorgos@gmail.com
