A Lifetime of Service
Asteropi, our stunning white mule, is a symbol of grace and endurance. For many long years, she dedicated her life to hard work, carrying heavy loads across the rugged paths of Amorgos. She served faithfully until her body reached its limit, the moment when her legs were no longer able to support the burdens she had carried for so long.
The Burden Lifted
On December 10, 2023, Asteropi’s life changed forever. She came into our care at the Animal Zone International shelter, and for the first time, the heavy saddles and weights were removed for good.
The transformation was beautiful to witness. Once freed from these physical burdens, Asteropi’s condition began to improve remarkably. Without the strain of labor, her spirit brightened, and her strength returned in a new, peaceful way.

Today, Asteropi spends her days surrounded by the tranquility of our shelter. She is no longer an animal of burden; she is a beloved resident who receives the loving care and respect she earned through years of toil. Here, the only thing she has to do is enjoy the fresh air, the company of her companions, and the affection of those who look after her.
