Menios - Kokinis

A Well-Deserved Rest for a Chora Legend

After a lifetime of service in the heart of Amorgos, Menios-Kokinis has found his peaceful sanctuary.

Menios-Kokinis, our handsome brown mule, is a well-known figure from Chora. For many years, he was a vital part of life in the capital, navigating its narrow streets and carrying countless loads. His strength and hard work contributed to the community for a lifetime, but every worker eventually needs to lay down their burden.

The Transition to Retirement

On December 4, 2023, Menios-Kokinis officially retired. We welcomed him into our care at the Animal Zone International shelter, knowing that we could provide exactly what he needed: a place where his only "job" is to enjoy the sunshine and the company of his fellow residents.

He arrived as a retiree who had given his all, and it is now our honor to ensure that his final years are the happiest of his life.

Gold Years in Good Company

Today, Menios-Kokinis lives a life of leisure. The heavy loads of Chora are a distant memory, replaced by the quiet rhythm of our shelter. Here, he receives the specialized care, high-quality food, and affection that a veteran of his stature deserves. Watching him relax in the open spaces of the shelter is a constant reminder of why providing a retirement sanctuary for working animals is so important.
