Sophie’s Inspiring Journey at Animal Zone International

A Volunteer Who Made a Difference

At Animal Zone International (AZI), our mission is to protect and care for the animals of Amorgos. Every year, volunteers from around the world join us, bringing passion and energy that transform lives, both theirs and the animals they help.

This May, we were honored to host Sophie, a dedicated volunteer from the United Kingdom, who spent three weeks with us at our Center. From the moment she arrived, Sophie showed extraordinary commitment, working beyond her scheduled hours and giving her free time to support our team and animals in need.

Supporting Our Stray Cat Sterilization Program

Sophie’s stay coincided with one of our most important projects: a one-week sterilization program for stray cats. This initiative is crucial for controlling overpopulation, preventing disease, and improving the welfare of stray cats across Amorgos.

The program demands long days, careful coordination, and many caring hands. Sophie’s dedication during this period was invaluable, easing the workload of our team and ensuring that countless animals received the care and compassion they deserved.

Why Volunteers Like Sophie Are Essential

At AZI, we believe that volunteering with animals in Greece is not only an opportunity to help but also a way to create lasting change. Volunteers like Sophie bring hope, energy, and love, qualities that amplify the impact of every program we run.

Her contribution has left a lasting mark on our organization, and we are excited to welcome her back when AZI’s new Center opens in the future.
