This poor kitten, who we have named Heracles, was found in Aegiali by one of our active volunteers. Just skin and bones, Heracles was covered in parasitic worms which were literally eating him alive. And his eyes are no good, so he is blind as well.

Equine Care in Amorgos
Two Kittens Arrive from Koufonisi
Last week two 3-week old kittens arrived from the nearby island of Koufonisi. We gave them the names Mick and Esthel--both are girls. They were discovered by one of our most active volunteers, who was spending a few days in Koufonisi. The two kittens were crying nonstop but their mother was no where in sight. After waiting to see if their mother would return (there was no sign of her), the kittens were put on a boat to Amorgos where Litsa, our tireless coordinator, fed them milk by hand.
We suspect that something must have happened to the mother, and so the kittens were left all alone. We are looking for good homes for these two new additions and hope to find some when they are old enough to travel. To help care for these kittens and all the others like them, please consider making a donation to Animal Zone International. Thank you!
Equine Care
In collaboration with Animal Zone International & Filozoiki Merimna of Amorgos, the Equine Care Team of ANIMAL ACTION–GAWF will be making its annual visit to Amorgos in order to offer free veterinary, hoof and dental services to working animals—donkeys, horses, mules.
This will take place on Friday, June 26 and Saturday, June 27th. Anyone with donkeys, mules, horses that are in need of care can contact Animal Zone International at: 22850-71716 or 6974990045.
2-Day Vaccination Program for Stray Cats
Our two-day vaccination program took place on June 8 and 9th on Amorgos. This is a crucial part of our mission to keep the feral cat population healthy and clear of disease. To AZI Friends and Supporters: please consider making a donation to help us fund this program. To Litsa, our coordinator, and the amazing volunteer vets—a big warm-hearted thank you!
Update on Raki
Raki was brought to Holland to be adopted by a loving family in October 2014. She is doing very well and is a happy dog who loves the sun and her ball!
